Now when I came across this title, Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers, I just knew I was going to love it! I mean The Corner Office isn’t that what we are all dreaming of?

Written by Lois P. Frankel, PhD, Frankel states the books explores the ‘unconscious mistakes women make that sabotage their careers’. Scary Stuff!

Overall, Frankel describes 133 mistakes that women make. Whilst this is daunting at first their is a self-assessment early on in the book. So it is possible to identify your weakest areas and then just focus on that. The mistakes are grouped into seven categories:

• How you play the game
• How you act
• How you think
• How you market & brand yourself
• How you sound
• How you look
• How you respond

Mistakes are explored over a few pages so very easy to dip in and out. There are also action points after mistakes so the reader can address the weakness.

I found the book so insightful. From reading the first chapter I was noticing the ‘mistakes’ women made everywhere.

Did I agree with all 133 mistakes? No. I agreed with the majority though.

Do I think every woman working in an office should read the book? Yes!
