Atomicon 2025 - Review and Takeaways

On Monday 9th June 2025 I headed up to Newcastle for Atomicon 2025. Having attended Atomicon in June 2023 and 2024 I was excited to return for the third time. Keep on reading to find out about my biggest takeaways and review of Atomicon 2025.

ATOMICON 2025: REVIEW AND TAKEAWAYS

Day 0: Pre-Events

Mass TikTok dancing

I am an avid TikToker (you can check me out at @charellegriffith). There was a point in time where I posted 3 times per day and now I post daily (Monday to Friday) on my business account. On top of creating content on TikTok, I also consume content. I love so much about the platform: TikTok dances, clever transitions, millennials singing the most dramatic songs and more.

But as a solopreneur it’s very rare I’m with someone else who will make a TikTok video so each year I’m excited to take part in the TikTok mob dance. For the last two years this had been arranged by TikTok consultant Penny Walker (Barbusa Social), but this year the baton was passed over to Abigail (Rose and Thistle Social) and Linz Creates.

After a raining dancing session in 2024 that ended up with me running (whilst trying to protect my hair) across The Gateshead Millennium Bridge I was delighted for a drier day this year.

@charellegriffith I love getting to record TikTok’s with other people  Thanks @Penny – Video Marketing Pro for organising a mass TikTok dance again.  It’s a shame the weather wasn’t on our side but I still had fun. #rain #marketer #businessowner #ohnonononoo #ohno ♬ Oh No – Kreepa

Being super honest I didn’t enjoy the session as much this year, but it was still nice to meet some faces, get the body moving and kick-off Atomicon 2025.

Pre-Party (Jazzy Shirt)

Whilst there are lots of pre-events (pre-pre party on the Sunday night and community mixers on the Monday afternoon/evening) the main pre-event is the pre-party. There is the optional dress code of a jazzy shirt, but this year I decided to not follow the dress code – which is totally allowed.

It was lovely to spend a few hours talking to people, taking pictures and getting a glittery star on my face courtesy of Helen’s Hub, The Glitter Glam Squad.

Day 1: The Real Event

Takeaways from the sessions I attended

Emails That Sell – Laura Belgray

Whilst I have been aware of Laura through The Copy Cure she’s never been someone I have followed and given how important email marketing is I was excited to hear her talk.

It was clear Laura is a seasoned speaker and her talk shared lovely stories combined with tips you could try straight away.

Biggest takeaway: Make it an EFAB (email from a best friend)

From Zero to Millions: The Unfiltered Truth About Building a Successful Online Business – Carrie Greene

I can remember consuming Carrie’s content back in the mid 2010s when I was first dipping my toes into online community building and building a business online, but it had been years since I had consumed any of her content so I was very excited to see Carrie speak given how well her business is doing.

In the talk Carrie led you through her journey of building her business and then talked about her approach to marketing online today. Surprisingly what she is doing today isn’t actually that different from what she had done in previous years and I’d argue many people are doing the same thing are not achieving millions. Whilst there was little new in what Carrie shared process wise she did end the talk in a very motivational way so I left the talk inspired to take action.

Biggest takeaway: Find a process and then refine, refine, refine.

How to Handle ANY Objection and Sign More Clients (With More Heart and Less Hustle) – Suman Randhawa

Suman is someone I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in-person a number of times, but never heard speak so I was excited for this talk.

Sumans’s talk was well structured taking us through her ACE framework so we could make sales and handle objections before the sales call.

Biggest takeaway: Find out what the main objections are and create content that addresses those objections.

The Unfiltered Future of Content – Grace Andrews

Grace Andrews is well known for being the Brand and Editorial Director at Flight Story (the media company behind The Diary of a CEO), as well as having a strong personal brand around content.

Given the scale of The Diary of a CEO I’ve never been too interested in hearing Grace Andrews speak, however, I was intrigued to hear her thoughts on the future of content since it is something that is forever changing.

This was a conversation led by Andy Lambert and they talked about whether the focus should be on followers or micro-community, what collaborations with creators will look like in the future, being culturally relevant, personal brand and more.

Biggest takeaway: Test, test, test and use new features.

Fearless Partnerships: 5 Steps To Generate Thousands fo Leads and Create Multi 6-Figures Income in One Move – Robin Waite

Just as I walked into this talk I said to the person next to me I know NOTHING about Robin other than whether I do keyword research he always comes up. So, as a wildcard, I thought let me go see what he’s all about. Well quickly it became clear the reason I knew of him from his blog and just his blog is because he is anti-social (in the sense he doesn’t use social media for his business). Instead, he focuses on partnerships and in the talk, he shared his 5-step process for building valuable partnerships.

Biggest takeaway: Create a list of 10 people you’d love to partner / collaborate with.

Why Marketers Need to Think Small (To Make a Big Impact) – Rory Sutherland

Of all the talks this was the one I was most excited for. I saw Rory at BrightonSEO in 2024 and was blown away. I was excited to hear him speak again and I was not disappointed. He discussed how in marketing we have to explore and exploit, and in recent years the focus has been more on exploit than explore and there are downsides to that. He also talked about benchmarking being for losers and how to reverse benchmarketing.

Biggest takeaway: Presenting the same thing different can turn something undesirable into something desirable.

Celebrity Service 2 (The Gap In Your Service You Never Knew Existed) – Geoff Ram

I’d never heard of Geoff Ram so had no thoughts ahead of going into the closing keynote. However, what a speaker. His use of his body and story show he’s well-practiced – and the topic was super relevant to me as someone who specialises in helping service-based businesses. He shared how to go that extra step so your service isn’t average, but in his words ‘celebrity’ as that is what will help you to win more sales.

Biggest takeaway: Learn from every service that makes you FEEL something so you buy.

Review of Atomicon 2025

I believe that Atomicon 2025 was bigger than 2024 and 2023 (I went to both and you can check out my reviews here – Review of 2024 / Review of 2023) . However, it actually felt a bit calmer.

Atomicon is marketed as one of Europe’s largest conferences and definitely compared to most of the conferences I go to in England it is big – and that is valuable to me.

Personally the value is partially in what I learn and partially in being in the rooms and meeting people.

All of the sessions are recorded so there is the opportunity to go back and there were a number of sessions I specifically didn’t watch in-person as I knew I would catch up whilst home and on my laptop.

That’s it! You’ve heard my review and biggest takeaways from Atomicon 2025.

I have now decided that nothing will ever compare to Atomcon 2023. Even though it gets bigger every year I don’t think there will ever be that shock to my system and overwhelming OMG this is amazing.

That being said I did enjoy Atomicon 2025. I came away with a few actions points that I’m excited to implement. I got to catch up with people new and old. And it gave me the oppportunity to analyse a lot of speakers, which is great for me as I am building my speaking career.

Atomicon 2026 will be taking place on Tuesday 16th June 2025 with the pre-events on Monday 15th June 2025.

And I have already bought my ticket!
